League Division 1: 14th (of 22) - 13 wins, 13 draws, 17 losses; 47 goals scored, 52 goals conceded

QPR continued play League Division 1, where they finished below mid table. In the FA Cup, they were knocked out in the fourth round by Manchester United. In the League Cup, QPR were knocked out in the semi-finals in a replay by Aston Villa. At the beginning of the season, QPR had a four game tour of the West Germany and Yugoslavia.

Owing to their position in the League the previous season (2nd), QPR were included in the UEFA Cup and made the quarter finals, losing to AEK Athens over two legs.
